First Step Solutions began in 2020, initially focusing on Financial Literacy to help NDIS participants build skills for financial independence. Through discussions on social spending and online safety, we identified gaps in knowledge around consent, healthy relationships, and online safety. In response, we developed the Date-Ability Program, tailored to the needs of individuals with disability. Recognising ongoing barriers like social anxiety and limited safe opportunities to practice new skills, we launched Mates Before Dates (in-person) and The Cliq Connection (online, 2023). We also provide counselling supports around sex and sexuality, empowering individuals to explore relationships safely and confidently.
